Terrorist Groups and You
(NP)Throughout history there have been many groups of people who have fought for a cause but found that the only way they could ever accomplish anything was through terrorism. Such groups of people are, for example, the Irish Republican Army, Elf, and other groups that do not have a name but are classified as: Anti-Abortion Terrorists, Palestine terrorists from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany and Environmental-Terrorists.
(NP)The Irish Republican Army or the IRA was created in 1913 order to put pressure on the British government to grant home rule to Ireland. During 1930s to the 1960s they engaged in a campaign of violence using ammunition, explosives, and other arms. They attacked the police, army, Unionists, and Catholics helping the police. They eventually, through a series of meetings, agreements, and such, established a ceasefire that has still remained strong even up to the 2000s. So the IRA has tried to get their home rule with terrorism and diplomacy and has only just now started to work in 2005 after the IRA announced they had decided to end their armed campaign.
(NP)Another group of people are the anti-abortion terrorists. Despite the ruling of Rowe vs. Wade, people still cannot accept the fact that we humans have equal reproduction rights. And such people have attempted to scare clinics and doctors with such acts as a failed attempt on a clinic when a man doused his car with gasoline and plunged his vehicle into a woman’s health clinic, but the clinic doesn’t even give referrals for them. There have been many murders, two in Pensacola, FL and there was one in Amherst. Since 1977 in the U.S. and Canada there have been 17 attempted murders, 383 death threats, 153 incidences of assault or battery, and 3 kidnappings. There have even been anthrax threats to U.S. clinics. But the envelopes did not contain anthrax, just white powder. Most pro-life people are generally non violent, however there are exceptions.
