-
- Invisible Children only donates 31% of their proceeds to actually helping anyone (very small in any sense of the word), the rest of it going in the pockets of the people running the organization and their documentary business. They're also being criticized for oversimplifying and exaggerating the situation, turning a complex affair into a classical fight between good versus evil, even depicting the Ugandan government as knights in shining armor, when they're no different from the LRA.
- Invisible Children also neglects to mention that Kony and the LRA were exiled from Uganda back in 2006. Kony's current whereabouts are unknown, but he hasn't been seen in the past 6 years, so many Ugandans believe that he's dead. As for the LRA, there's only a few hundred of them left, and while they do occasionally commit acts of wanton violence, they're NOWHERE near as active as they were back in 1986-2006.
- Basically, what I'm saying is, Invisible Children is probably not the organization to donate to if you want to stop the violence in Uganda. Consider donating to any other organization BESIDES IC. Oxfam, Amnesty International, UNICEF, Save The Children, The International Rescue Committee, SOS Children's Villages, World Vision, and many others are prime candidates if you truly want to help Ugandan children out and maximize your support of the Kony 2012 cause.
